Hello everyone! My name is Danielle and I’m very much looking forward to learning what you and your family are looking for in a caregiver! I am very passionate about caring for children in a way that allows them to play, learn, let off steam, and say the funniest things in the process. I was raised in Brooklyn and moved back after graduating Wesleyan University. I bring this experience to my caregiving, as I know how to carve a home and safe space in a big city. I have been a caregiver and tutor for children of all ages for 10 years. For example, I’ve co-stewarded an outdoors camp in Park Slope for children ages 1 to 5, babysat a sweet 8-month-old infant, and was a tutor / babysitter for a very curious 11-year-old with ADHD who was adjusting to a mixture of remote and in-person schooling. My subjects of Read more speciality are humanities, math, and test-taking, and I have worked with young ones ages 5-13 to gain confidence and agility in these areas. My teaching style is tailored to each child that I work with, taking special note of their learning style, when they need gentle encouragement, and when they may need a break. I’ve noticed that this intentionality is especially important in altered learning environments due to COVID-19. Whether it is a group setting or not, I make sure to attune my childcare approach to each child based on their personalities, particular quirks and needs, and communication style. Between arts and crafts, off-screen games, and outdoor time, I am intent on creating activities for any age group or personality where kids can have fun and learn. I’ve noticed that it’s been a difficult time for some children, and I would like to help provide grounding support for them at this time. Outside of childcare, you can find me working on my children’s book and looking up new recipes to replicate without destroying my kitchen. I am a non-binary and gay person. I use they, he and she pronouns and am happy to explain how that works to you and / or your children. With this in mind, I would love to work with a family that would enjoy a queer, gay and nonbinary role model in their children's life (whether or not the parents and/or children identify as any of these categories). Please note that I have recent CPR/First Aid certification and am vaccinated against COVID-19.
