I have worked with children since I was about 14 years old. I babysat my cousin on weekdays and sometimes weekends. I babysat for a family that had a couple of children at the time. The first day I babysat them they loved me and did not want anyone else to babysit them. I would find ways to give attention to both of the kids and they enjoyed that. We did a lot of different things together. After a while the children's sister had a baby and she could not care for it. The lady I watched took custody of the child. I started watching him when he was a baby. I would encourage the kids to help me clean the areas they played in. After I graduated High School I went to Disneyland with the family I babysat for. I helped the lady take care of her children. When Read more I got back I moved to New York from Utah to be a Nanny. I was a nanny for 2 1/2 years. I got the boy ready for school, put him on the bus, took him off the bus, helped him with homework, after homework we played games or with his toys, I cleaned the house and did laundry while encouraging the boy to help me clean the area he played in. I taught him how to separate clothes. I introduced him to new foods and after a while he was eating what we ate. I went to Africa in 2006 with my church. When I got there I had a buddy instantly. He stayed with me while I worked and always enjoyed me holding him. I tried my best to keep him from eating the grass. I was there for 2 weeks. I currently work for Ability Beyond Disability. I work in a behavioral group home with 6 adults that have disabilities. The agency says that is the toughest house to work in. I have a routine there and my guys behave very well for me. We go out and do different things and try our best to keep the behaviors down. The job requires us to teach the guys the basics of living. We try to do as little as we can for them. It is a lot of work but very rewarding. I have a lot of training for my job and hold certifications. I am willing to discuss more of what I do there if anyone is interested.
