Hey there! My name is Makayla, and I’m so excited to work with your family! Education: I am licensed in Early Childhood Development, and I have over five years of experience caring for children of all ages. I am currently working as a reading instructor for children with learning disabilities and special needs in the mornings. Prior to this and my student teaching, I worked as a Registered Behavior Technician for kiddos with Autism which provides me a unique advantage when caring for children with developmental delays, challenging behaviors, and special needs. I am recently graduated from UNM with a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education (I was 1 class away from a second minor in Speech and Hearing Sciences). I am certified in CPR and First Aid for infants, children, and adults. I also have experience in language acquisition, potty training, expanding tolerance of non-preferred food items, teaching play skills, pre-writing skill development, and creating developmentally appropriate activities for children of all ages. I can tailor my babysitting sessions to your child's specific needs. Philosophy: Caring for children is my passion, and I’m not afraid to get silly! Whether that means running around your home pretending to be a dinosaur or singing silly songs, my main priority is keeping you child safe, entertained, and learning! I am passionate about shaping the minds of the next generation through teaching fundamental social-emotional skills even in the most mundane situations. You can rest assured knowing that, even if I am only watching your child/children for a few hours, that they will be engaging their minds and developing essential skills. I strive to provide consistency and the highest quality of childcare possible whether I watch your kiddos one time or a hundred times. I always operate with the mentality of leaving your home better than I found it, and you can expect a small cleaning service each time I babysit for no extra charge.
