I have been a caregiver since I was twelve. I began watching my brother, who at the time was two. And from there, I began watching children in my neighborhood. I watched one particular family for a number of years; beginning at age four, for the youngest, and ending at age twelve, for the oldest, over the course of six years. Now they are older and do not need me to watch them anymore. I have watched another family, who has three children. Two boys and one girl. They are all around the same age as the first family, and now do not need me anymore either. There is a family I currently watch, one boy and one girl, age three and age five. My sister watches them too now, so it's not very steady work anymore. I have watched children as young as one-year-old, and I watched up to Read more six children at once on my own. I took child care classes for my knowledge before I officially began watching all of these families, and I repeated these classes for two years. Recently, I have taken CPR and First Aid classes, making me CPR and First Aid certified. I have taken many classes during my education, such as Child Growth and Development and Parenting, and also had two years of student aid internships with children. One was with a preschool and one was with a fifth grade class at an Elementary School in Nashua. In order to continue any of these internships or continue the position as an actual job, I need a degree, which I am currently working on, so I can not move forward until that's completed. This gives me plenty of time for child care positions, temporary or long term.
