Hi I am Miss Chelsey and have been working with children since I was a senior in high school, working as a reading coach and math tutor. Throughout my University years I worked as a summer camp counselor, activities coordinator, after school teacher and program coordinator. As well as have been working in the early childhood field for the past 7 years. I am not just a babysitter by any means, I am an educator, a caretaker and believe my role to be one as an extention to the family. I love learning and wish to instill in all of my children the love for learning, responsibility for their environment and the ability to always be thinking, wondering and questioning the world around them. I am convinced that humans can never be done learning new things and there is always something new a child can teach us each and every Read more day as long as we listen to them. I love the way my teaching style has evolved after each new group of children I've been able to work with and I enjoy learning besides them as we work together through any new challenges and emotions that present themselves. My approach to early childhood is a blended approach of the Reggio Amelia Approach along with Waldorf and Montessori influences. I think Loris Malaguzzi said it best in his poem The Hundred Languages, that the child has, “a hundred ways of listening of marveling, of loving, a hundred joys for singing and understanding, a hundred worlds to discover a hundred worlds to invent a hundred worlds to dream”. I see my role as teacher and/or nanny as someone who is there to assist and guide my children in developing the skills to always be thinking, wondering, and exploring the world around them.
