I am the older sister to three very different, very exciting younger siblings, whom I have grown up helping to care for and learn from. I have been babysitting since I was about twelve years old and still regularly babysit where I live now in North Carolina. I studied Early Childhood Education in college and was given the opportunity to volunteer and be subsequently hired by an early childhood learning center in Swannanoa, North Carolina. I helped to care and provide for between eighteen and twenty young children at a time, learning skills of mediation, group leading, and teaching. My experience there has allowed me to develop knowledge in areas of literacy, social-emotional skills, art and craft creativity, math and science exploration, health through our nurtition program, motor skills, and body topics. I have worked with a wide variety of children from different races; cultural, social, and economic backgrounds; and Read more with varying developmental/psychological statuses. I am also a trained, experienced birth and postpartum doula. Last year, one of my doula clients became my roommate and I assisted intensively in the postpartum care, which ranged from general care of the mother and baby, to transporting and accompanying them to doctor's visits. I'm really passionate about early childhood development, and believe that each experience in the earliest days of life has the potential to form the behaviors and beliefs one carries through life, so I endeavor to create nurturing, kind learning spaces for infants and children.
