While enrolled in the Teacher Academy program at the Pontotoc Ridge career Center I taught many varieties of students over the course of 2 years. I helped the gifted students with projects along with 8th grade science and reading during my first semester. The second semester was a change that impacted my life when I was moved to Kindergarten. I absolutely enjoyed working with those children and their teachers. My final 2 semesters I returned to kindergarten and on their graduation day, I was crying more than their parents. It’s was hard work as well, but I received a medal for my test scores and the work I accomplished during my enrollment. Aside from my experiences, I come from a family who is rich in culture. I’ve watched my aunts’ and uncles’ children and also tutored them from time to time. For years I knew I wanted to work with Read more children. During the time after I graduated highschool, I worked in customer service throughout many restaurants. These were only jobs to help me create a stable life for myself while also saving for my future. I plan to have my own academy for children interested in culinary arts. Since it’s been some time since I’ve taught children, I would like to gain more experience in a setting that would allow me to connect with my students. Children are the future of this world. They need not only a safe place to feel accepted, but a good role model to help them achieve whatever they desire. It would bring great joy to me knowing I helped a young child become a successful independent adult.
