I enjoy caring for children and teaching through a fun and positive atmosphere. I have worked with children who have autism from nonverbal to Asperger's and have a son with Asperger's. I started volunteering in schools in 2012 and in-home babysitting in 2015. Being that I am a male, there was originally a lot of doubt and discouragement going into this field. Over time, however, I found there are a lot of children who don't have an active male role model and that is often where I have been useful. I originally wanted to be a teacher, but later decided to be an assistant and provide childcare. The extra stuff teachers have to do such as paperwork isn't me and I found through experience that assistants often do a lot more teaching, which is the part I enjoy doing.
