I am Florida grown, but Navy rooted to Newport, RI. I proudly follow and serve as a military spouse to my husband, Daniel. I am a mother of 2 girls (ages 8 and 2) with our third baby GIRL on the way! I currently work at the Navy War College as a full time administrator. I love my job, work environment, and the sense of responsibility my job gives me. In addition to working at the War College, I am an Exceptional Family Member Respite Care Provider contracted through the Navy. I have provided care for up to 4 military families with various special needs over the course of the past year. As I took on full time work, I considered leaving my job as a respite care provider, but have found this line of work to be too fulfilling to give up entirely. I currently provide respite care to Read more one family in addition to my full time job. I have worked with this family for over a year now and have developed quite a special bond with both the children and their parents. If you're still reading my bio, you're probably wondering why I am on Sittercity looking for a job if I am so happy with the jobs I have now. As I mentioned above, we are having our third baby girl. That means 12 weeks of maternity leave for me. Being a full time working Mom comes natural for me. The idea of spending 12 weeks without work is scary! I'm looking to spend my summer providing child care (in my home) for up to two school aged children. Ideally, I'd like to begin summer care June 26th (expected last day of school for Newport County School District). The newborn will be 3-4 weeks old at that time. My oldest (the school ager) will be home with me for the summer. My middle child will be in daycare full time (she does well with her structured routine and preschool program). We have a spacious 2000 square foot home with a fenced in yard and double car garage. We live in one of the safest neighborhoods in Middletown; 10 minutes from the beach, 5 minutes from the base, and 10 minutes from Newport. We are very active and enjoy attending local events (The Kite Festival, parades, etc.) We are actively seen at the Chaffee Fitness Center utilizing their family friendly fitness center, pool, and basketball courts. Some of our favorite summer activities include cliff walks, beach trips, and so much more! If you're looking for a fun, family friendly environment for your school aged kid(s) to spend their summer, please message me!

I never want to write a negative review, but I think it's important for other parents to understand the experience I had in August 2015 with Misty. She applied to a full-time nanny job I posted on this site and after a few messages, I invited her over to my home for an interview. Fast forward to the interview at my house: the "polite and well mannered 5 year old" she mentions in her profile ransacked my house. When we were upstairs in my daughter's nursery, her daughter started going through my daughter's jewelry box, shuffled through her closet, went through the first aid kid, and asked me if she could have a memory box that my daughter's God Mother made her. All the while, Misty just stared at her. Against my better judgement, I offered Misty the job because she seemed like a nice, caring person and lived near by. She accepted the offer, we agreed upon an hourly rate, and they went home. In the following 2 weeks, Misty and I communicated via text and phone calls to discuss trial dates, start dates, and a contract. 10 days later I sent her an email to check in on the status of the contract... no response. A day later I sent a text following up... no response. At this point I was concerned, but chalked it off to her being busy with the kids. A day later I left a voicemail stating my concern at her lack of response... still nothing. Finally 5 days later I sent a text letting her know that if I didn't hear from her by the next day, I'd assume she wasn't interested in the job. 4 days later--which if you're calculating is 2 weeks since my original text--Misty sends me a text with a series of excuses and then asks to finalize the contract. The purpose of all of this information is so you can make an INFORMED decision on hiring a child care provider. My advice: avoid Misty, there are MANY other kind, reliable, and honest candidates on sittercity... none of which will mislead you and waste your time or stress you out unnecessarily.

Do you self a favor and stop your sitter search here! Misty far out weighed our hopes for a quality baby sitter while we were in town for a family wedding. Misty had our three boys (5,5,7) for 4-5 hours on a Friday and 9 hours the next day and when my kiddos woke up on Sunday they asked me what time she was coming that day and were disappointed that their time with her was over. She brought legos and fun things to do. Fixed great meals and created tons of memories for my kiddos. They were at the beach playing for over four hours on Saturday and then came back to the house we were renting and played backyard baseball. We also loved her daughter and consider it a bonus that she offered to bring her along if we wanted her too. It was the perfect play date for my guys! On paper, I loved that Misty had taken the time to do all the background checks and that she was a mom. In person, I loved that she was so patient, caring and fun! I wish we lived closer, she'd be a friend for sure! At the end of the weekend I got 3 emails full of pictures of my guys having a blast! She is the best of the best. I would use her again in a heartbeat! I'm just sad she lives so far away! From one mommy to another, She is exactly the kind of person you hope to have watch your kiddos!
