Children are delightful! Now that mine are grown and I don't have grandchildren yet, I would be pleased to spend some time with your children while you enjoy a night out or a weekend away. Also feel free to contact me if your regular daycare is closed for a period of time, or if your child is sick and you can't take them to daycare. I'm adept at staying awake overnight, so I could help you with late night feedings of newborns or monitoring of preemies while you get a good night's sleep! I also have experience with colicky babies, intense toddlers, spirited children, and children with challenging behaviors, so I'm here if you just need a break! I have decades of experience working with children - I'm currently a licensed substitute teacher for the school district, and over the years I've been a sub a local preschool, a teacher Read more of elementary enrichment classes, a nanny (when I was much younger), a foster parent, and I raised my own two children (now in their 20s). I took multiple child development classes in college and I have had ongoing professional development in subjects related to children and education. I have specialized experience with gifted education/children with high intelligence, twice exceptionalities, asynchronous development, neuroatypical, etc. I have been certified in CPR and First Aid (although I'm due for renewal). I am familiar with issues related to food allergies, and I have experience working with children with special medical needs (my oldest had cancer as a teenager). I tend to be interactive with children rather than just watching or monitoring them. I encourage enriching activities like imaginative (pretend) play, games, music, etc. Even everyday activities like cooking can be an opportunity for learning. I strive to nurture their curiosity, their creativity, and their sense of wonder and joy. Every minute of their childhood is precious since everything they are experiencing is influencing the development of their brain, their personality, and their attitudes toward the world. I am comfortable with pets of all kinds, respectful of diverse cultures, and welcoming of LGBTQIA+ families and individuals. Non-smoking households only, please.
