Meet Sarah

• Comfortable with pets

I am the oldest of four kids in my family, so helping out with little ones started early for me! My mother used to run an in-house daycare with children ranging in age from newborns through ten years old. I started babysitting on my own when I was around twelve, babysitting my siblings at first and then, by age fourteen, other families. I have served as a private nanny for widely ranging families, such as single-child toddler homes where the parents were both in and out of the house, and families with multiple pre-teen children who were independent enough to entertain themselves, but for whom I still performed important duties such as meal prep and transportation to and from summer activities. I'm comfortable with all ages and all types of furry friends! I have also worked with children in professional settings, in preschools and elementary schools, as an America Reads Read more tutor during my college years. I mentored young students ranging in age from preschool through the fifth grade, assisting them individually and in small groups with reading and writing assignments. My primary job was to encourage early childhood literacy and, beyond that, cultivate a love of reading! For the past two years, I have worked for an education-based nonprofit organization in Miami and LA, working with some of the highest needs students in the country as a personal role model, mentor, and English tutor. I have also travelled to schools across Los Angeles as a campus beautifier, bringing positive messaging and bright murals to school campuses to encourage students' achievement and sense of belonging. Children have been a passion of mine since a very young age. Because of this as well as all my experience, I have developed a strong desire to nurture young minds toward kindness, intelligence, and compassion for others.
