Hi! My name is April, I'm a 47 year old mom of 5 children (9, 18, 22, 23, 25) available evenings and some weekends to help families On top of raising my own children, I have done babysitting/child care/teaching since I was 10 years old. I have almost 10 years early childhood teaching experience (4 years of kindergarten, 5 years 2nd grade) and have a master's degree in Early Childhood education. My teaching licence is currently expired, but my love of teaching and helping children grow/develop remains. I am currently a nanny for a local family helping raise their 3 children ages 7, 7, and 10 for the last 4 years I've worked in an emergency room for a few years and know basic first aid although I'm not cpr/first aid certified. I have had a negative TB test in the past year as well. Previous jobs I've had- Sunday Read more school teacher, lifeguard, swim lesson teacher and swim coach. I am a non smoker and can pass a state or federal background check. My driving record is clear, the most recent time I was pulled over was 20 years ago. I own my own car, it is fully insured. I am comfortable working with any age children and can handle a few at a time. (I've had 25 kindergartners before so 4 or 5 children does not scare me away :) I've even been called the "baby whisperer" by people! When I am with children I like to keep them busy in arts/crafts, going to parks, zoos and LOVE reading with kids! I'd love to take your children to the local library for story/activity time as well. What I typically do for "discipline" is to provide children with choices and I talk quietly, at their eye level about whatever the situation is. My friends and family would describe me as kind, caring, and gentle. I am often seen with a smile on my face.
