First off, I love hanging out with kids! Period. I am 23 years old, I have been a nanny of a combined 4.5 years. However I have been watching kids/babysitter ever since middle school. My first "nanny" job was for four children ages 3-10, three boys and a girl. Growing up I was always so active in multiple sports, and I also work at a minor league baseball park on promotions team. So going to work, well basically wasn't work. They were very active kids and we spent most of our days playing outside. I then my next nanny job was completely different. I nannied for six- month old premature triplets. At first, I only had two of the three. There was some birth complications, one of them had tracheotomy and was on a ventilator. After 18 months in multiple hospitals she was able to come home. I then became Read more one of her primary caregivers, in which I had to go through the hospitals training in order to receive the knowledge to take care of her everyday needs. I learned how to change a trach, feed from a g-tube, inline suction, give meds and breathing treatments, etc. She has nursing hours, but when they are not there I am in charge of watching after her. Not only do I take care and watch after her, but I take care of her other two siblings at the same time. I was taught sign language and was able to teach all three children since one of them has hearing loss and uses hearing aids. Physical, occupational, and speech therapist constantly were coming to the house to work with all three children. I would then use what they taught me and work with the children on my own. Throughout this experience I gained so much knowledge about child development. There has definitely been hard days and even harder days, but to see the progress of these three incredible children is worth the effort. I believe that every child is someday going to change the world. I have been so blessed and honored to be apart of making their future bright.
