My primary childcare experience stems from the two summers in which I was a camp counselor. As a camp counselor, I was responsible for creating activities and being a source socioemotional support for 10-12 young girls. It was a great experience as it allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of how children develop and find my passion in childcare. As a psychology graduate, I have taken many developmental courses which has further enhanced my knowledge of children. In addition to being a camp counselor, I volunteered in a preschool for two semesters of college and I was a Sunday school teacher to 1st and 2nd grade girls. I was also a nanny to a 1.5 girl during the summer right after I graduated college. Furthermore, I have worked with children who suffer from mental health issues on the Child and Adolescent Unit at Pine Rest. I am also pursing my masters in Social Work at Grand Vally State University.
