I'm 25 years old, I'm from DC, and I am an Early Childhood/Elementary Education Major. I have been a babysitter now for about 5 years, but I have worked with kids since I was professionally since I was 16. I have worked with special needs kids, primarily those with varying ranges of learning disabilities, AD/HD, and behavioral disabilities. Their ages have ranged from 2-17 years old, and I have watched up to 5 kids at a time.  I am currently taking some time off school while working part time in a local after school program. I don't drive nor do I have a car, but am very familiar with public transit. Other than that, I really do love working with kids. My favorite things to do with them are read, do science and art projects, play games and go outside (most of my past experience with kids was through my Read more taekwondo studio, so I'm used to physical kids), go outside or to the park, go to museums and libraries, and anything to do with music.  As a babysitter, I believe in consistency, positive reinforcement, the occasional time out, being clear with expectations and (depending on the type of babysitting) structure/routine. I think that being clear and consistent gives children a sense of comfort in knowing what they can and cannot do, and what will happen if they choose to not to behave properly. I think kind words encourage a child to choose to make good decisions and to be kind people themselves. For reoccurring babysitting jobs, I think structure and routine comfort a child because they know what's going to happen at any given moment. **References can be given on request!**
