Hi, my name is Emily Van, I'm an 19-year-old currently enrolled at UMD. I am looking for a part-time job so I can help out with my family and spend some free time helping others. I have no paid experience babysitting but about a year ago I worked at Kids First Swim school and taught children of all ages how to swim. I have a dog of my own that I take of. I take online summer classes so there is no need to worry about time. I have very good time management skills and I love helping others. I would love to gain experience, I am more in it for self enjoyment rather than money. I travel a lot and earlier this year I was just in the Philippines for the 11th and 12th grade. In high school, I volunteered in a lot of community service. My high school Read more would do an event where every December, before our Christmas break, students would travel across the country to help those in need for a week. For my first year, I went to another city in the Philippines and visited a specific school where every day, me and my teammates would help garden, clean and paint walls, teach children english or math and help them play sports. For my second year, I stayed in the same city at my school for a few days because the children from a different school would come into our school. Their School was called “Stepping Stones”, school for children who are in special needs. Me and other students would have an assigned child to take care of for the rest of the day. I helped my assigned child play, draw and learn. The next few days, my highschool went to their school and we were assigned different children this time. Me and my crewmates helped the children learn how to bake, play learning games and brew coffee. I also helped open a service club, our aim was to organize various service activities such as Saturday Services and fundraisers. The Saturday Services acts as an opportunity for the Stepping Stone kids to interact with ISM (My high school) students and enjoy ISM’s facilities. The aim of the fundraisers is to collect money to purchase the needed Occupational Therapy equipment to donate to the Stepping Stone school.
