Bapou S.

Bapou was an amazing sitter and everything we could have hoped for. We worked together for just over a year. She was the primary caretaker for our 2 boys (age 2 and newborn). She was amazing with the boys. She was always punctual and an absolute pleasure to have around the house. We could not recommend her more highly!

We’ve had the great pleasure of working with Bapou for over a year now. She has been caring for our 2-year-old son since the start of the pandemic, and then also for our newborn who is now 6 months old. Bapou is warm and gentle and has a wonderful way with kids. Our toddler can be challenging at times but she is incredibly patient with him, and thanks to her empathy and deep understanding of children she is always able to motivate him to listen. She plays ball with him, reads, paints and draws, sings, and is teaching him how to speak French – he can count to 20 and knows conversational basics! Our baby just loves her as well – they have a special bond and his face lights up when she enters the room. She sings to him, reads, plays, practices crawling and standing, and encourages all of his physical and mental developmental milestones. We are relatively new to our area, so we appreciate that Bapou has built a community for our toddler in the neighborhood. He now has a close group of friends that play together in the park most mornings. We were a little worried about his social skills after a year of quarantine, but Bapou has been encouraging important behaviors like sharing and helping others. She sends pictures and videos of the kids throughout the day, so we get to share in all of their adventures. Bapou is a wonderful cook – she prepares food for our toddler and always encourages him to try new things. He loves her food so much that she always brings extras of her own lunch so he can have some of it as well! She also helps out with child-related chores around the house, like laundry and light cleaning. Bapou has decades of childcare experience and is also a mother herself, so she knows how to care for children of all ages. She is a huge asset to us as parents, sharing her wealth of knowledge and advice whenever we need some perspective. She remains close with all of the families she’s worked for, which is a testament to the close bonds she develops, not only with kids, but with the whole family. Most importantly, she loves our children and they love her. We trust her implicitly and it’s obvious that our kids feel safe and confident when they’re with her. Our kids are going to be starting daycare in the fall, so we are dedicated to helping Bapou find a great new position. We’re very sad to be losing Bapou in our daily lives since she has become a part of our family but we know we will always remain close.
