I was really disappointed with the lack of communication that Jin provided. She initially reached out to me, with interest in my job post for a frequent babysitter. We had (what I thought was) a really good phone conversation, and I asked her when she would be available to come over to do a short 2 hour trial run (my husband and I are first time parents, and this was going to be the first time our son was being watched by someone other than family, so we felt like a trial run would lessen the blow for us). We agreed on a Saturday because that is what would work best for her schedule, and she requested to set the time as 3:30pm, because she had another babysitting commitment earlier in the day. Not a problem at all. When ending the phone conversation, I told her I would touch base closer to Saturday, and in the meantime if she could provide me with a few references; to which she agreed. Several days later she still hadn’t sent any references, so I assumed she got busy and it slipped her mind. Again, not a problem at all—I sent her a text to confirm our appointment that was scheduled in the next couple of days, and reminded her to please send me some references. No response, but the next day she “loved” my message. Not necessarily the type of response I was looking for, but I felt at least she had acknowledged my message, and maybe that is the way she typically communicates. By Saturday afternoon, it wasn’t very promising when she still hadn’t reached out to me to even ask for my address, and finally at around 3:25pm when I knew she had no intent of coming, I sent her a message expressing my disappointment in the situation. It would be nice to have an explanation of exactly why she apparently changed her mind. She was the one who initially reached out to me—I just feel like if she didn’t think it was going to be a good fit, she should’ve never proceeded to schedule for her to come over in the first place.
