I will graduate in August 2016 from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Hearing and Speech Sciences. I plan on becoming a Speech Language Pathologist. I am taking a year off before I attend graduate school next fall. I was planning on substitute teaching but would rather a more stable position. My mom has been an elementary educator for close to 30 years. I grew up volunteering at her schools and learning from her and her colleagues. I have also volunteered at my local fire department since I was 16 (currently age 23). I also participated in"Thon" events at both PSU and UMD. These events raise money for children's hospitals. I do not have any serious nannying experience but I have grown up taking care of family members and volunteering with all types of children. My mom was diagnosed with MS 11 years ago which caused me to Read more grow up fast in terms of managing the household. I have been living on my own since 18. I can cook, clean, do laundry, help with homework, crack jokes that might be funny, and also have a clean driving record/accident history! I love helping people and truly believe it is what I was meant to do in life. I am a fan of arts and crafts- I have plenty of supplies for activities such as painting, tie dying, photography, jewelry making, etc. I also enjoy outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, swimming, frisbee and also played lacrosse for the majority of my adolescence. I know how to lead children and consider myself a very reasonable person. The values I hold dearest are kindness, honesty, and empathy. Every job I've had has been important to me because I enjoy being a hard worker. I enjoy being able to see that I have improved someone's day, or given them comfort. I would be happy to talk to you more/ answer any questions through email! We can correspond through texting/calling once intial contact has been made! P.S. I love pets!!
