Dear Prospective Employer: I am responding in regards to the Occasional Babysitter position. I feel that my over three years of prior experience in Childhood Education and training in the 90 hour as well as the 45 hour certificate program at Prince George’s Community College will allow me to contribute greatly to your program. Also, my willingness to be a major asset for any company or family in which I am fortunate enough to be employed with. I am a Childhood Education trained professional who believes in building relationships with the children, parents, and staff as well as continually displaying professional conduct. I have prior experience with children of all ages. I have a strong belief in building professional relationships which is why I know that it is important to greet the children and parents with a warm welcome as well as giving the parents a sense of comfort in Read more knowing that their children are safe in my care. I’ve been trained in the 9 hour Communication workshop as well as CPR and First Aid and I know that the children and parents are the number one priority. I know that at times I will be working in a busy environment and that I can manage the pressure of dealing with such. I hope that the interest regarding this opportunity is mutual. I look forward to possibly meeting with you to further discuss this opportunity. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a partnership of respect and achieving goals for the family. Thank you, Merissa B. Penn

Cancelled last minute on New Year’s Eve. Enough said.

The pros: She did do a good job with my daughter, and sent photo updates which I really enjoyed. She was very kind and took lots of notes. The cons: 1. I interviewed her for a recurring commitment and she didn’t tell me until after she completed her first day that she was pursuing other opportunities (If she told me that during the interview I wouldn’t have had her come in the first place). She stated she may or may not come a second week and left me waiting for her to decide whether she was-thankfully she confirmed she could come, which would allow me time to interview more candidates. Then she texted me at 8 pm on a Monday to cancel for 8 am on a Wednesday. Again I would’ve just preferred a straight up no instead of the back and forth and having to find someone new last minute 2. After working a single seven-hour shift I got a phone call the next day from her new employer to use me as a reference. I didn’t really have enough information after one day to be a reference, and it’s odd to be called as a reference without being asked first 3. Due to taking public transportation (which I understand is out of her control) she arrived 10-15 minutes late. That was fine for our situation because I had the flexibility to go in late, but it could be an issue for someone else
