Hi everyone! My name is Ashley and I just recently graduated from Bridgewater State University with a Bachelor's in Social Work! My goal is to earn an MSW to become a school counselor, specifically for children and teens with disabilities. I like to think that I have diverse caregiving experiences. Currently, I part time as an assistant teacher at Cotting School. It is a Special Education school in Lexington! I also have experience as a PCA (personal care attendant). This past summer, I was a caregiver for a local family of 3 children (1 young child, a toddler and an infant). Additionally, I was a caregiver for another family of 2 young girls, ages 6 and 2. I recently completed a full year internship at Healthy Families in New Bedford. This is a home visiting program that works to help young first time parents of children from newborn-age 3. While Read more my work with parents consisted of helping them develop/enhance their parenting skills, I worked on child development techniques with their children. My passion for helping and working with children is actually one of the main reasons I chose to major in Social Work. Since the age of fourteen, I have had many different types of experiences working with children whether that was babysitting or community service. My earliest experiences were mission trips. I have been on four mission trips to the countries of Haiti (twice), Costa Rica, and Ecuador. On these trips I worked hands on with children of all ages, from toddlers to even teenagers. My group and I did many activities with them such as: teaching them English, nature and health facts and singing songs both in English and their native language.
