Hello! My name is Emma, and I am a graduate student at Boston College earning my M.Ed. in special education. In addition to working towards my degree, I am also a teaching assistant at a school for students with complex disabilities. Currently, I am looking for a caregiver-type job for weekends or select evenings. Although I would be there to provide support, my goal is to use my background to help facilitate exciting and rewarding experiences that allow people to achieve their potential! For the past 5 years, I have had extensive experience supporting people ages 4-22 with multiple or complex disabilities including autism, down syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, C.H.A.R.G.E., seizure disorders, PTSD, deaf-blindness, cerebral palsy, etc. Over this time, I have served as a camp counselor, camp director, PCA, and now a teaching assistant. These opportunities have provided me with a versatile background as I have supported people with their Read more ADL needs, various behaviors, and different communication devices. Additionally, I am familiar with some basic sign language (i.e. yes, no, more, all done, same, different, etc.) and have been CPI certified. I have also worked alongside speech pathologists, OTs, PTs, life-skills teachers, etc. As previously mentioned, I want to support people where they need it, but I also want to make sure they are doing things that make them happy and proud. In the past while PCAing I have read lots of books, gone on walks, explored different beaches and walking paths, and listened to music. I also love doing crafts, talking sports, and cooking. If you think we would be a good fit please reach out! I love what I do and am eager to find another family to support!
