My name is Katherine and I am currently a graduate student at Boston University where I am working toward earning my Master's Degree in Child Life and Family-Centered Care to become a Certified Child Life Specialist! I have extensive experience working with children with and without disabilities as I was an elementary school teacher for two years prior to starting graduate school. I now also work a teaching assistant in a special education school for students with complex medical needs while I pursue my graduate studies. I am CPR/AED certified and I have strong background in child development. As a child life student, I am passionate about working with children and families in hospitals and other settings to help them cope with the challenges of hospitalization, illness, homelessness, and disability by providing providing developmentally-appropriate preparation, coping strategies, and opportunities for play and self-expression.
