*The background badge failed because of a speeding ticket in 2018. All other areas were clean. I will share the report with you* Kia Ora! That means “hello” in New Zealand where I spent 10 months as an Au Pair. While I was in New Zealand, I received the “au pair of the month” award and was selected as one of the top 3 au pairs by the International Au Pair Organization. My host family described me as “firm though fun” and adored my “playful and carefree ways.” They also appreciated how dedicated I am to making a difference which I exhibited by “listening thoughtfully” and researching books to teach the children about different types of people in this world. Going to New Zealand to become an Au Pair was the best decision I’ve ever made not only because it allowed me to renew my CPR and first aid training, Read more but because it gave me a whole new perspective on the world. Before becoming an Au Pair, I worked as a camp counselor for 5 years, taught my own class room at Rainbow Childcare, and worked as a therapeutic specialist at a rehab facility in Northern Kentucky. This means that I have experience working with all sorts of children aged 14months- 15 years. I have worked with healthy children, but also children with mental illness and children who have experienced trauma. Since returning from New Zealand, I have worked with 3 additional families as a nanny. I started working with children sort of accidentally. I had been going to a YMCA summer camp for 5 years as a camper and the next progression was to become a Junior Counselor, but as soon as I met my first ever cabin, I knew I loved working with children. I believe that children are our future, and if we want to create a happier, healthier world we need to start with them. My goal as a caregiver is always to help them learn to love and accept themselves exactly the way they are, while also teaching them that making mistakes is a good thing because it allows us to learn how to do better next time. No matter the child, I find age appropriate ways to teach them useful skills such as handling their strong emotions and resolving conflict. This, I believe, is what sets me apart from other caregivers. I do not see this career as a chance to sit around and play games all day, but as an opportunity to create a better world. I go above and beyond the normal expectations of a nanny by searching for new ways to help children grow into happy, loving people. I can’t wait to speak with you to see if we’d be a good fit
