I am a calm, responsible, loving grandmotherly type person who is transitioning from the high powered, high stress environment of running social services programs to a more relaxed and enjoyable job of caring for infants and children. I am a parent of 9 children ranging in age from 39 years to 9 years old and I have four grandchildren, who sadly all live out of town. I ran my own in-home daycare when my oldest children were young and I have over 20 years experience fostering children as a foster parent for the state and for St. Joseph Children's Home. I have studied child development and dealt with many children who had developmental delays, working to bring them up to their appropriate developmental milestones. I firmly believe in teaching and modeling appropriate behavior rather than punishment. And I am very comfortable working within the expectations of the parents. I consider Read more myself an assistant and a good team member. Although, I have a great deal of experience I would never perceive it to be my job to override the parents' wishes. Mostly I just enjoy being with infants and children, seeing the world anew each day through their wondering eyes. I like reading, arts projects, getting messy if need be, being outside, doing simple science, cooking with the children (when age appropriate) and generally being involved in their imaginative and creative play. I have my own car and I am a safe, licensed and insured driver.
