I have been babysitting for nine years and almost all of my occupations have included some form of childcare. Most recently, I teach dance classes to children ages 2-8 at daycares and recreation centers as a Tippi Toes Dance instructor. I also spent a portion of college working at Purple Bloom School, a private daycare in Iowa City, working with children as young as six months. In middle school and high school I babysat for family friends and coworkers of my parents, then in my my sophomore year I got a job at an after-school Care facility with 75+ kids. Here, I learned skills like how to help kids with their homework, come up with interesting and creative activities, play fun indoor and outdoor games, and make healthy snacks. I worked here for the bulk of high school and have returned every now and then throughout college. The summer before Read more starting college I worked for UDA (Universal Dance Association) as a camp instructor. In this job, we worked up to 12 hour days at overnight high school dance camps teaching multiple routines and various classes such as public speaking and team bonding. The most valuable thing I learned in this position is how much a positive attitude and a smiling face make a difference. The summer following my freshman year of college, I shortly nannied for a family with a 6-month old infant and an energetic three year old when daycares were closed due to COVID-19. My aunt an uncle also have three children under the age of 4 whom I occasionally babysit. I'm currently a full time student at the University of Iowa, where I'll soon begin my senior year as a journalism major. I'm a bubbly individual and I LOVE working on crafts, experimenting with food, reading, and dancing.
