I'm a 20 year old college student in the Overland Park Area. I'm going to school to become a medical/clinical social worker. I am neurodivergent myself and because of this I can empathize with children who have special needs and am interested in working with them now and in the future. I recognize that children need to be treated with respect and patience. And my style of childcare does not involve harsh discipline or shaming. My past job experience includes working as a part time teaching assistant at the J KC - Jewish Community Center Overland Park from February 2022 -June 2022. I upervised and assisted 4-5 year old children in a classroom and playground setting -- reading to them, helping them with art projects, making sure we were in the correct child-to-teacher ratio Set up and put away cots, wiped down counters and tables, swept floors, put away and Read more disinfected toys Food prep -- washing and cutting fruit, setting tables, doling out USDA-advised portions of lunches and snacks; restocked utensils, plates, and cups during closing time. Created art for bulletin boards, and assisted in setting up and taking down bulletin boards and seasonal decorations Talked to parents about how their children were doing at the end of the day Went through extensive onboarding including learning state regulations, first aid training, observation hours, TB testing, and a physical examination; attended routine meetings and training with other staff members. I enjoyed working with kids but left because my coworkers were making the enviroment hostile. I am now looking for childcare jobs in a calmer, small scale enviroment. Thank you for considering me.
