Hello, families! My name is Annie, and I'm an art educator with a passion for childcare. I have 8 years of experience working with children of all ages. While my background is teaching K-12 visual arts, I specialize in early childhood education. After obtaining a Bachelors in art education, I spent time at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis as well as the Indiana State Museum, becoming familiar with the Reggio Emilia approach. In addition, I spent a year at a Montessori school as the aftercare classroom lead. During this time, I was able to continue my education with a Montessori Primary course. I currently hold CPR, First Aid, Pre-Art Therapy, and AMI Montessori 3-6 certifications. While working with families, I collaborate with parents to practice gentle parenting, focusing on setting boundaries, understanding natural consequences, and giving children the comfort, support, and respect they need to strengthen emotional intelligence and hit Read more developmental milestones. I enjoy planning activities and playdates at museums, libraries, nature centers, parks, playgrounds, etc. for the children in my care. While working with children, I love to spend time in nature, which helps to regulate the nervous system, and practice fine and gross motor skills. My current professional goals are to learn baby sign language and continue to discover children's literature.
