Hello! My name is Heather. I've often been referred to as the "Mary Poppins of Michiana". I sing (not nearly as well as Julie Andrews, of course,) dance, dress up in costume (like many children's favorite book characters and Superheroes), play fun, creative games, and provide unique books & crafts to teach even the youngest of children about music and art . My 1st job was in 1986 for the 3 sons of a physician; my next door neighbor.  I stayed quite busy, scheduled for the weekend care of their boys, as well as the children of their close friends. I spent the summer of 1989 in Liberia, West Africa, where I interacted with the tribal children on a daily basis. After returning to Indiana, I held 2 live-out positions: daytime shift for a 5 yr old girl and 3rd shift for 2 boys. I went on to a live-in Read more position in Fairfax Station, VA, where I stayed for one year.  After getting married, I began caring for 4-5 children at a time, in my home. While raising my own family, it provided me with the opportunity to do what I do best -  entertain and educate children.  My children are now grown and my dream has always been to either return to the Fairfax, VA, Washington DC area as a Full-time Live-In Nanny. Until then, I would very much like to find a position in the Chicago area where I could live in the family's home, Monday through Friday, and be home on the weekends, unless I was needed by the family to travel out of town. I am the very best at what I do. I know that I was put on this Earth to do what I do. I am in my element when I am bringing joy to children through educating, nurturing, and entertaining them. They keep me young. I do have a very outgoing super positive personality, I am in great shape, I am creative (one of my ideas was even chosen for an issue of FAMILY FUN magazine!! When the representative called to tell me, I began crying tears of joy, because I felt like I had finally arrived!!), I love to play soccer, freeze tag, lacrosse, and I am a very "accomplished"(?) swimmer (I was on the swim team for four Summers). I love making forts, creating unique, fun activities that teach children about nature, art, music, science, and math, sledding and snowman building in the winter, planting seeds in the spring, water balloon contests in the summer, and, of course, raking huge mountains of leaves to run and jump in!
