The first experiences started in college when I volunteered at the Boys' and Girls' club. (2005- 2006) I volunteered to work with kids on homework and structured activities as well as play. I also had a "mentee", who I was assigned under my care to do structured activities that allowed the child (7-8 years old) to choose topics of interest- such as sign language. I went to school for Education at West Virginia University (Fall 2004- Spring 2006) and finished my dual degree at Indiana University Purdue University of Columbus. (Graduated in December 2009). I majored in Elementary Education and Teaching English as a Second language. In between colleges, while gaining Indiana State residency, I worked for a year as a substitute teacher and when I graduated, I worked as a substitute teacher until I began working at Ivy Tech and Global LT. I taught ESL (1st grade) summer school Read more for Bartholomew Consolidated School corporation in Columbus, IN. For Global LT- I tutored English language learners and many were children between the ages of 7- 16. Now I am a mom and I don't want to end my experiences of helping different kids, tutoring and caregiving for children.
