Hi, I'm Becca! I'm currently a Preschool Teacher at Memorial Child Care with over 15 years of child-care experience. My husband and I moved here from Milwaukee two years ago so the could start his medical residency program through SIU. I first started caring for children at the age of 13! I went on to become a nanny for ten years and helped raise several children from infancy up into elementary school. While nannying, I taught many children the fundamentals of learning, and that’s how I realized I had a passion for early childhood education. I made the transition to being a full time preschool teacher and I’ve been doing that for over five years now. Although I typically work with 4/5 year olds, I have experience with all ages, and am often tapped to help in the baby room when extra staff is needed. I like to plan engaging and enriching activities, depending on the child's personality and age, that will help them grow, learn, and have fun in the process! I also strive to provide a nurturing/trusting environment for every child I care for. On top of my Early Childhood Education credentials, I also have a BA in Theatre from Loyola University. While there I had the opportunity to do fieldwork in early childhood development through theatre games; I carry those passions and experiences into my work still. As a babysitter, I've consistently put in extra effort by helping with chores around the house. I've maintained a very close bond with the families I've worked for and have excellent references.
