I have been babysitting since age 15 and love the rewarding experience of providing care to a child! My most recent position was at a school for autism where I gained extensive special needs experience. I earned my Bachelor's degree at Roosevelt University for psychology with a concentration in child and family studies. I completed an internship at a community child care center for at-risk children and continue to volunteer in their classrooms as I am able. I recently spent a summer in Costa Rica studying abroad and improved my Spanish speaking skills. I am not fluent but can communicate effectively. I love to volunteer at my local animal control's adoption center and grew up in a house with many pets. I also love to read, both children's and adult's books, and was a secretary for my college's literature society. I have completed training through the American First Cross for Read more AED/CPR certification twice (and am currently certified), for child safety through the park district, and child development and teaching through courses at Prairie Ridge High School, as well as child psychology course at Roosevelt University. I have experience caring for children from birth to age 12 and large groups of children at a time. For 2 years I provided weekday care for boy/girl twins from the time they were three months old. As they grew, my responsibilities evolved from primarily consisting of feeding, changing, and sleep supervision, to a dynamic range of activities including development of speech and motor skills, primary education, crafts, field trips, transportation, safety education, and various life skills. I developed a close relationship with this family and learned a lot of techniques for educating, entertaining, and maintaining order in a household of two rambunctious toddlers. I formed a close relationship with the entire household and now look forward to developing that same type of relationship with another family. I am capable of providing structured care, including helping with homework and building developmental skills, and know many fun and educational games for children of all ages. I look forward to hearing from you and meeting your family!
