My name is Cat, and I adore children and babies! I'm a warm, caring, nurturing childcare provider, with experience caring for ages 2 months--11 years. What separates me from most adults is that I treat children as whole human beings. No matter how tiny they are. I treat them with boundless respect, empathy, and love, just as every person deserves to be treated. Inspired by Montessori methods, I support children in independently exploring and learning from their world through their senses and blossoming abilities. I guide children through imaginative, creative play appropriate for their unique being and level of development. I love to play games, be outside in the sunshine, cook, do arts and crafts, make music, and go on fun outings with children. Always, always, always patient and calm, I do not believe in punishing or shaming children. No child is "bad." My discipline is unwavering, yet gentle. I Read more guide them through their valid emotions, learning experiences, and challenges with healthy (yet firm) limits and genuine compassion. I graduated from American University Summa Cum Laude in Sociology. I now currently work full-time as an Activity Director with the elderly. From 2018-2019, I worked as a preschool teacher in a two-year-old classroom. I was characterized as “phenomenal,” “gentle,” and “so genuine” by parents and admin. Fall of 2017, I was a full-time nanny for a one year-old boy in Washington, DC. His parents described me as being invaluable to his development. Summer of 2017, I was at Aidan Montessori's summer program as the head of their Cooking Department. Summer of 2016, I nannied and baby sat for three families in the Chicagoland area -- children between the ages of 4 and 10. Summer of 2015, I worked as both a preschool teaching assistant and a daycare teacher at Chicago's Intercultural Montessori Language School. I've also enjoyed being a volunteer at Homeless Children's Playtime Project in DC. I'm infant/child CPR + first aid certified. Also, I've completed DCFS-approved trainings in SIDS/SUID prevention and Shaken Baby Syndrome. I would be more than happy to take whatever safety measures your family deems appropriate to protect your family from COVID19 as well (i.e., masks, frequent hand-washing, etc.). I would love the opportunity to care for your family. With heartfelt care, dedication, and positivity, I promise to give your family nothing but the best.
