I am 18 years old, just graduated from high school now attending my local college. I have two part time jobs. One at a grocery store and one at the boys and girls club. Thought it may seem like I have a busy schedule, I don’t. I seem to have quite a bit of free time on my hands and I can’t think of any other way to spend it than doing something productive-whether it’s another job, volunteering, etc. Now I know that “watching your siblings” isn’t legitimate training experience with kids but through that i have learned much about how to get along with younger kids and see life through their eyes so I can successfully be a positive elder in their lives. I also am a current staff member at my local Boys and Girls Club and I enjoy every second of being there. There’s so much you Read more learn from the kids and so much fun you have being with them. It is a huge blessing to be part of such a positive environment for kids not only to have fun but learn important life skills. Prior to becoming a staff member at the Boys and Girls Club , I was required to attend a couple lessons on how children are affected from what they are introduced to since birth, what I can do to help a child in need , what healthy steps to take to prevent the endangerment of a child and how to act in a challenging situation with a child.
