BIOGRAPHY My name is Alicia and I graduated in 2012 from the University of Washington as a premed student with a bachelor degree in Medical Anthropology. I received my Master's in Health Policy and Law from the University of California, San Diego in 2019. I am currently applying to medical school this June so I am looking to babysit until I begin my research position at UCLA next month. I am also a research associate with ~6 years of experience specializing in lentiviral vector engineering for cancer immunotherapy. I have worked at the University of Washington, Seattle Children's Research Institute, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Moores Cancer Center, and UCLA (born in Seattle, moved to California in 2015). My career goal is to become a pediatric oncologist/cancer researcher. My most recent babysitting experience ended in December 2017 when I moved back to Seattle for a year to care for my Read more grandmother with terminal cancer. While in San Diego, I cared for a 5-year-old boy and 3-year-old girl (whose parents were both healthcare professionals at Moores Cancer Center) for 6 months while I was finishing my program. I did school pick ups/drop offs and daytime/nighttime sittings. Both children suffered from respiratory illnesses (asthma and bronchiectasis), but having worked in clinical/hospital settings for 10 years I quickly adapted to helping them manage their health conditions. The family was also Jewish and I enjoyed the challenge of learning the dietary/religious laws of Judaism. Before moving to California, I nannied for two pediatricians in Seattle from 2013-2015. I took care of their 3-year-old daughter and 9-month-old son. Our favorite activities included walks around beautiful Magnuson Park, eating lunch by Lake Washington, reading lots of books at the public library, and coloring (a lot). I did light housework light laundry and cleaning sticky tables and floors during nap time and this helped keep the house clean overall! I enjoy watching children grow and find great satisfaction in helping them learn new things. I truly love all children and it is for this reason that I wish to empower and represent them when I am a pediatric specialist. Since my references are all working professionals, they are available upon request! Thank you for reading and please feel free to message me with any questions.
