Hi! My name is Elisia Cortes. I am 22 years old and currently majoring in Psychology at the University of South Florida. From 2019 up until March of 2021, I was employed by Hillsborough County Public Schools as a part-time AIDE for the HOST program. My job included watching anywhere from 25 to 50 kids everyday after school. I have worked at a minimum of 10 different public schools with elementary and middle school aged children. Some of my job requirements included helping the children with homework, setting up arts and crafts, organizing group games, and monitoring behavior for safety. One of the most fulfilling parts of my job has been being able to build positive relationships with each and every kid, allowing me to have the chance to make even the smallest difference in their life. After this job, I worked as a nanny for a 10 year old Read more child from March 2021 to November 2021. I helped cook meals, assist with homeschooling, and made sure we had fun everyday! I also ran errands for the family as well as aid in any household duties that needed to be done. In February of 2022, I started back at HOST as an assistant instructor. I finished with my time there at the end of the 2023 school year. My duties remained mostly the same with the addition of a few responsibilities: maintaining schedules, keeping parents up to date with their child’s behavior, and setting guidelines for each of our groups to follow. After I left HOST, I began working with a family of 5. They had 3 creative and energetic kids, with their ages ranging from 3 years old to 7 years old. I stayed with them while they were out of school for the summer. We had a consistent schedule that was followed each day that allowed us to have tons of fun! As the school year started up again in 2023, I began working with another family. This family of 4 had two children ( 2 years and 9 months). I worked with them up until February of 2024. I did my best to help these kids reach their developmental milestones! We had a lot of fun playing outside together and singing along to their favorite songs!
