Hi, I’m Jess. I’m a grad student looking for a family (or families) to work with as a source of supplemental income during the summer months of May-August at minimum. I have been involved with childcare positions of all types spanning the last fifteen years—including growing up babysitting my younger cousins, working as a TA and 1:1 aid in a special needs preschool and elementary-age summer program, and long-term nannying for several families over the last five years. Most recently I nannied in Tallahassee for a family with two young boys over a span of two years until they moved to PA this past summer. The oldest child was 1.5yo when I started and 4 when the family left; the younger child was born while I was working for the family and was 2yo by the time they left. I absolutely love the day-to-day excitement of finding new activities, teaching Read more school-type skills via play, and having the chance to bond with a family and I genuinely miss this as a part of my life in Tallahassee. As their nanny I watched the children at home, took them on outings to Tallahassee museum/Maclay Gardens/Lafayette Park/the Gulf marine aquarium/etc., dropped off and picked the older child up from school, prepared meals and snacks for both boys, assisted with potty training/bath time/bedtime routines, and did some light cleaning while in the home. I’m still in contact with the family and visit the boys to take them on weekend getaways every few months, so I would be more than happy to provide contact information for the parents as a reference. I’m very familiar with working with children spanning from young infants through early elementary school, but would be more than willing to work with older children as well. I also do have the special needs background, which includes working with children who have cognitive and/or physical disabilities, including limited mobility, non-verbal/limited verbal ability, autism, and Down’s syndrome. My schedule is extremely flexible at the moment and while I would love to find a consistent position with a family, I’d be more than happy to serve as a babysitter for parents who simply need a break every now and then.
