Working with children has been something I have looked forward to as a part of my day for years. As a child my mother had a home daycare, and I grew up helping her with several children, ages ranging from newborns through junior high. As I entered junior high myself, I began volunteering in my church's nursery and Sunday School, eventually becoming a church employee for the majority of my high school years. Each Sunday for six years I have worked in the nursery with children ages newborn through three years. Throughout school I have been dedicated to volunteering for Big Brothers, Big Sisters and various clubs with a desire to help children including PRIDE, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I began babysitting towards the end of junior high, something I have always been happy to do. The summer before my senior year in high school I cared for a Read more eight year old boy and his three year old sister daily. I feel very comfortable and enjoy helping and being apart of every child's life. This year I have spent my time babysitting and tutoring at the local elementary schools. I have worked at the Lawrence Boy's and Girl's Club as well. Working with children gives me a kind of joy that is irreplaceable.
