Hello! I am a 24-year-old LSU grad with a bachelors degree in Communication with a minor in Sociology. I am also a licensed certified nurses assistant and most recently worked at Sacred Heart. Recently I decided to change career paths. I was an elementary education major my freshman year of college but decided to pursue Nursing after I graduated. While my background is in communication I took several child development and education classes my freshman year of college as well as participated in student teaching. For years I have volunteered with a non profit called the Grace Oughton Cancer Foundation which provides emotional and financial assistance to families who are fighting a pediatric, terminal illness. My work with this organization and the families urged me to change career paths and I knew I had to work with children. I first decided to try out the clinical side of the medical Read more field and learned very quickly I wanted to solely work with children but not providing medical services. I will be pursuing my masters in order to become a child life specialist so I can assist young patients battling cancer with their emotional well being. My experience with children also comes from years of babysitting, being a camp counselor at 4H, directors assistant at Miss Pre Teen United States as well as volunteering at the child care on LSU's campus. I have enjoyed working with children age 6 months to 13 years old. I have experience picking up/dropping off, giving baths, cooking and preparing bottles, dressing, getting ready for bed and nap time, diaper changing, cleaning, story time, play time, tutoring and attending to sick children. I also have a 9 month of my own and will be watching him whenever I provide childcare. He is very loving and well behaved.
