I am the parent of five grown children, four of which were adopted from foster care. I currently have custody of my six month old granddaughter which I will be adopting soon. I will not place her in a daycare setting until she has the ability to communicate well, hence the reason I am looking for for babysitting positions. I have volunteered in the childcare area at practically every church I have been a member of. I currently have a paid position for childcare at my church in addition to volunteering every other Sunday. I mainly work with the babies and toddlers since this position has many turnovers. I believe on focusing on the positive behaviors, showing the child ways to change a negative or unpleasant behavior. This approach will eliminate or greatly decrease using time outs. This method has proven to be very effective and it develops permanent change, Read more because the child makes the right decision repeatedly and is rewarded for their good choice. This way they get the attention they are seeking in a positive way. In addition to reference from parents at my church, I believe I could also get a reference from the agency that handled the adoption since they are involve prior to as well as after the adoption. I enjoy reading to children and I place an importance of older children reading to me or their younger siblings. I'm old fashion and still believe that playing outside is important, as well as using their imagination. I would like to bring my granddaughter with me unless I'm watching another baby. Although, I watch several babies and toddlers at the same time at church, while I'm in your home I think your baby deserves 100% of my time and energy.
