I am at an absolute loss for words regarding this sitter. I was referred to her by a former sitter of mine. They both said that she has over ten years of in home experience and a few months of daycare experience. I informed her before we even met up that I had a court date on the day that we were scheduling for, so I would need an absolutely 100% solid commitment. We met at a park. She stayed for maybe ten or 15 minutes before telling me that she was too hot and wanted to leave; I politely told her that we could have chosen an indoor setting if she doesn't like being outdoors too much. On the day of the custody hearing, she actually did not show up or contact me in any way. The ONLY reason that I made this hearing was because I asked her to come three hours before the hearing so that I would have time to clear my mind and mentally prepare. Instead, I ended up using this time to text literally every single person in my phone, asking them if they or someone they know are available; I have no family to fall back on. By the grace of God, a former sitter was available and ended up saving the day; I booked it to the neighboring county and made it just in time. I know that this stress negatively affected my ability to present as my best in court; I truly needed that time beforehand to prepare instead of rushing in. This is by far the most asinine behavior I've seen in a sitter; she fully knew that I was expected in court and chose not only to not show up, but also not even cancel and give me time to find someone else beforehand. I do not believe this behavior should be tolerated and I feel that families should be forewarned. Part of me is even wondering if the opposing party was involved in this sabotage. Regardless of the reason, though, this is absolutely unforgivable and unacceptable. This literally affects mine and my child's entire life and she chose to completely disregard that. It is absolutely unbelievable.
