I could tell you that I’m a primary school teacher, that I’m very professional, or that I have a lot of years of experience, but that doesn’t determine who I am or how I work. Before telling you a little bit of my story, let me tell you something important. Something to understand the way I see things so that you decide if you want to continue reading: If your kid is walking and falls, I’m not the kind of person who hits the floor and say “Bad floor, bad floor” (nothing against this). Kids are very smart and I strongly believe that they understand everything better when we explain how things work. I prefer positive reinforcement to punishments, playing outside (like in old times), and avoiding screens. When my twin brother and I were born, we had a babysitter: Viky. She was with us until we were 2 or Read more 3 y.o. I have no idea how she looked or what she was playing with us, but when I think of her I get good vibes and I smile without knowing very well why. I guess that's the way I felt when I was with her. I have no memories until I was 5 (when my mum told me she was pregnant), only a couple of random images. The 2 of them are with Viky. My mum was never worried when she was working or went out for dinner: we were in good hands and sometimes she forgot to call home to ask how we were doing. You may think she was irresponsible, but in my opinion, that’s s a very good sign. You work hard and go for dinner outside a few times per year; you deserve to disconnect, to enjoy. And that's what I try when I babysit. All I need to know is: Naps/bedtime. Preferences/favorite games. Do I need to cook? Driving to/from school? Dog-walking? Help him/her with their homework? And of course, meals: what does/doesn’t (s)he like? What do you want him/her to eat? At what time? Does (s)he have any allergies? (My smaller sister is a celiac. A very intolerant one so I'm used to paying attention to these small details and reading all the ingredients that she was gonna eat). Of course, you shouldn't believe anything that I said. The best thing is to see with your own eyes the person who you are gonna entrust your most precious treasure. If you think it could be me, it will be a pleasure meeting you and the little one(s) :)
