I have worked as a nanny for 5 different families and have been babysitting since I was 12 years old and I have loved being a part of every family that I have worked with. I have experience caring for babies and children of all ages. I also have experience working with children with special needs - medically, emotionally, developmentally, and otherwise. I am very patient, loving, nurturing, and I take care of every child as though he or she were my own. I am an artist and writer with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts & Art History. I had a Teaching Fellow appointment at Harvard University for the 2 years following graduation, I have also taught at Pratt Institute and Tufts University. In addition, I've worked with children in various ways - from implementing a kid's club at a major regional mall, volunteering at an Art Museum in Read more their children's educational program to teaching kids to read, babysitting, and more. I absolutely adore being around children and quickly get along very well with almost every child I meet. I love playing with them, teaching them, reading to/with them, responding to all of their endless observations and/or questions about the world around them as they discover more and more of it, as well as facilitating experiences in which they will discover and learn new things. I know how important it is to provide the kind of environment and activities that help a child to feel secure and confident and to teach them HOW to learn. I'm really good at figuring out how each child learns best (be it visually, verbally, physically, etcetera) and tailoring the way that I interact with them so that learning will be easy, fun, and natural rather than feeling like a task or something they have to do before they can get back to playing. I'm an avid reader myself and I love to show children how magical reading can be and to make it something that they enjoy and want to do. Of course, I also love to expose kids to all forms of arts and crafts and at the earliest age possible, to encourage & inspire them to hold onto that childlike creativity, curiosity, and wonder and express it through some kind of art - whether that be one of the fine arts or music, writing, dance, design, etc ... I strongly feel that no matter where one's career path ends up taking them, that creativity and the abstract and out-of-the box thinking that it typically generates is infinitely helpful
