My name is Heather and I am a graduate of Southern Oregon University with a major in Criminal Justice and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. I am currently a Graduate student at Seattle University, in my last year of my Masters of Criminal Justice program, graduating in the Spring of 2023. I have been a babysitter/nanny off and on for the past 16 years now. I helped my own parents raise my 2 youngest siblings who are now 16 and 11 years old. The families I have cared for in the past were mostly military families but also civilian families, who occasionally had pets. I love animals and am happy to be utilized in a child care and pet care capacity. The age ranges of the kids I have cared for in the past range from 3 months old to 14 years old. I myself do not have any Read more children but I am the proud owner of a Goldendoodle dog, but I am very good with both. I have an understanding of the Spanish language and can speak basic Spanish. I have two babysitting philosophies that I believe in, the first is that children should read at least 1 - 2 books a day depending on the book and their reading group. The second is that children need exercise, whether it be running around the backyard playing tag or playing at the park. Overall I think kids just need to have someone to be there for them as well as someone to have fun with them while also teaching good listening skills, good manners, and the ability to follow the rules at the same time. I became a caregiver because I love kids and the joy of helping raise a child, whether it is your own or someone else’s, is one of the greatest rewarding experiences you can have in life. Being a caregiver of children and animals keeps you young at heart because who better to remind adults who can get so serious and wrapped up in the chaos of life that they need to remember to stop and enjoy the little things in life besides children and animals, it’s the little things in life are what make the big things so much more worthwhile!
