My name is Kristin Carstarphen, a troubleshooting millennial with an intergenerational understanding of the world. I have a passion for positively impacting early age youth and the loved ones supporting them. In addition to the love I have for working with children I genuinely crave adventure and new experiences, fulfilled through traveling and creating in the kitchen. With that being said, every day is a new day where I learn and experience as much as possible. I am a graduate of University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Development. My post undergraduate life has been filled with paradigm shifting learning experiences from working in the non profit sector to living through a pandemic to being a soccer coach for 3 year olds. During the transitional time of the pandemic I worked for the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County. While navigating through this new Read more virtual space, my role was to work with parents on ways to increase their daily interactions through literacy and interactive activities in the home. Even through the uncertainty of the world it was a moment for self growth and adaptability. During my time at The University of Central Florida I was an instructor at Wesley Child Development Center. My teaching position required me to create and implement various lessons and events that demonstrated community strengthening and cultural appreciation. As a result of these experiences I have learned and gathered many tools and techniques but above all is respecting others. Respect promotes the feeling of safety. Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs teaches us that when an individual's psychological and safety needs are met even if safety looks different for each individual they will desire to be in the environment that they feel accepted and supported. Whether it is working with children, parents, community leaders or even a boss, respect is at the forefront of the relationship.
