I'm a CNA and a physically fit 59 year old caregiver by nature. I'm triple vaccinated and I don't drink or smoke. I'm very responsible, with a mind always geared towards safety, determined that nothing is going to happen on my watch. I have a calm demeanor and I love making people laugh. Prior to becoming a CNA, I helped care for my Mother for 5 years after she fell at the age of 76 and suffered a serious brain injury. She needed 24-hour care and was placed in a nursing home. Every time I visited her she was a sad, smelly mess, slumped in her wheelchair. I'd give her a shower, shampoo, trim and style her hair, shave her legs, clip her nails, then dress her up in pretty clothes and put makeup and jewelry on her. She always felt so much better afterward and her confidence level would Read more soar. I'd wheel her around the nursing home and she loved all the compliments she would receive from other residents and staff. I always checked her for wounds or signs of illness and I took her to all her the doctor's and dentist appointments. I also brought her puzzles and craft projects and we would make things and put them on her wall. During those 5 years, I spent countless hours at the nursing home and learned a lot about caregiving to people with different needs. Prior to my mother's brain injury, I helped her care for my Dad after he had a stroke. During CNA school, I worked on a Dementia ward at a long term care facility. Caring for them was much more involved and I quickly grew attached to my patients. I still think of them and miss them. I also love babies, children and pets. I'm an artist and I gave private art lessons to a 12 girl with Aspergers Syndrome for a year when I lived in Virginia. It was very challenging and taught me patience on a whole new level. I'm as responsible with pets as I am with humans. I'm a life long cat and dog mom and have no problem being around and caring for multiple animals. I was a volunteer adoption coordinator, cat cuddler and dog walker at a no kill animal shelter in Virginia. I will be living in Brandon, Florida (just east of Tampa) from January to March, 2022. I'm looking forward to working part time in the Tampa area for 12-20 hours a week as a CNA, home caregiver or baby sitter. My hourly rate is always negotiable.
