Hello! Bonjour, السلام عليكم! Привет! Nǐ hǎo! Here is a snapshot of me: My name is Karen and I am originally from New York City. I have recently hung up my teaching hat after 15 years of classroom teaching, 9 of which have been teaching kindergarten overseas in the UAE, Russia, Hong Kong, and China. I taught grades 1 and 4 in Washington, DC before going abroad. I returned to DC in 2021 to teach kindergarten and first grade with DCPS. I have a Master's in Childhood Education, and I am a Teach for America alumna. I am kind, friendly, and fun, and my varied experiences domestically and around the globe have shaped the way I interact with children. My students always said I was funny and that every day was the best day ever! I love kids and their safety is my number one priority. When your children are under Read more my watch, rest assured that they are being well cared for. *Please note that I do have a valid Driver's License, but do not own a car. I have CPR and First Aid Certification.

Karen was our recurring babysitter for most of 2022 until we left DC about a week ago. She cared for our 2 YO son at least 3 times per week, sometimes in the evenings and sometimes on the weekends. There aren't enough good things I can say about Karen. Because she is a teacher, she brings professionalism and compassion to the role, often teaching me new tricks for engaging with my 1st child. She's extremely responsible and respectful of boundaries. Her international experience has created a worldly perspective which I appreciated as a contemporary. Responsibilities included: playing, reading, walks, outdoor activities, painting, meal time, bath time, bed time....basically everything one works require in a parent's absence. She was also very helpful in tidying up after our son so that we always came home to a neat home. Happy to serve as a reference for anyone who needs it. Other add-ons that we provided to karen: meals if carrying for our son during a mealtime and for extended lengths of time and ubers if she stayed very late at night.

Thank you so much for babysitting our 2 year-old daughter this past weekend! You were great at making sure she was all tucked in for her nap and I really appreciated the picture you sent via text of her playing with her building blocks. I felt re-assured knowing that she was in good care. We look forward to seeing you again!

I have 2 girls (ages 3 and 10 months). Karen is the first non-family member babysitter, so needless to say I was very anxious about hiring someone I didn't know. I loved that Karen offered to meet the girls (at no charge!) prior to me hiring her. She came over and my usually very shy and reserved 3 year old opened right up to her. Karen jumped right in and started playing with the girls. It really set my mind at ease. We hired her the following week and my 3 year old was very excited that Ms. Karen was coming over the play with her. There were no tears when we left (which pleasantly surprised me). She said she had a great time with Ms. Karen! I will definitely hire Karen again - she is my #1 go to babysitter!

We have two children ages 10 and 7 years old and this was the first time we used a non-family member sitter and we were very nervous. Karen was available to meet the children for a pre-interview and they were excited to spend time with her. On the night we needed her services she arrived prompt and armed with board games, which the children loved. By the time we arrived home later that evening the children were tucked in bed - fast asleep and all was well. We will definitely be contacting Karen again and the children have already asked, “when is Ms. Karen coming back to play with us”. I have peace of mind knowing that my children now have a reliable sitter that I can trust. Thanks Karen!

Karen did a wonderful job babysitting our 2 girls. Our almost 3 year old had lots of fun with her and asked when Karen would come back. Karen also switched from caring for toddler to 9 month old and back again quite easily. We would definitely hire her again!

My three kids loved Karen. She was very hands-on - taking them to the playground and spending time really playing with them. We were very happy with her, and look forward to using her services again soon!

Karen treated my dog like her own while I was out of town! I will definitely call her again the next time I need a pet sitter. She sent frequent picture message updates and I always felt reassured that my dog was happy and healthy!

I have twin boys and they had a wonderful evening with Karen. She brought a bag of "activites" including search/find dry erase boards, which i thought was a cool idea, she kept the boys busy playing and did their reading with them before bedtime. I asked the boys what they thought and their reponse was "She's fun mom, when is she coming over again?" That's what i wanted to hear!!!!! We'll definitely use her services again!!!!
