Meet Heather

I've been working with little ones for more than two decades now, taking care of beautiful babes in arms all the way up to adults who sometimes need a little special care, too. (We all do, sometimes!) Raised in The South, I am lucky to have grown up babysitting; teaching music; familiarizing children with hiking, riding (horses), and gardening; and often doing it while holding someone's darling baby on my hip! After college, I began teaching at the nation's only college for learning differenced students, as well as at a boarding school (both in Vermont). I've also been a dorm mother for high school girls, as well as the staff member at children's camp who calms the sensitive child, the new kid, the one having the bad day. Comforting and problem solving are what I like best! Now I work as a teaching artist in the DMV, teaching classes like Read more "Sound Lab", "Weekend Mosaics", "Learning Circus Arts", and facilitating theater productions. I love what I do, and I love bringing all ages the safety and the comfort that facilitate exploration. I am CPR certified; have excellent references; and a variety of extraordinary skills, including some ASL and "baby signing"; Braille; musical education; comfort with all pets and most plants; and familiarity with food allergies and other special diets. Of special note: I am celiac, so I am especially adept at caring for a child who must avoid contamination with gluten due to celiac or other medical condition.
