I have been independently caring for children for nearly 6 years. I love working with kids, and during the school year I care for two amazing 10 year old girls. I am responsible for picking them up from the bus stop, feeding them a snack, and helping them with homework before taking them back home. A typical afternoon together on a sunny day generally consists of a picnic snack, playing some games outside, and settling down to do some reading or drawing in my hammock on the green! I am very easy to get along with and have a great sense of humor. My goal is always to facilitate a fun, safe, comfortable, and positive environment. Additionally, I’m currently studying psychology and education at Mount Holyoke College. I plan to pursue a career as an educator or educational psychologist, but I am home in New Fairfield, CT for the summer Read more until late August. I am a graduate of the Red Cross babysitting and childcare course, with current certification in CPR/AED and First Aid. I am also an experienced swimmer and have been trained as a lifeguard. I am more than willing to bring children swimming and hang out at the pool or town beach! I have also worked as a medical assistant in a physician's office for 3 years and I have experience with emergency medicine/first aid. Most of my caregiving experience has been with children ages 6-11, but I am comfortable working with kids of all ages. I get along well with pets (and have a dog of my own!). I have experience working with special needs children as well. I grew up with a disabled older sister who requires 24/7 supervision and care, and I have frequently assisted in caring for her since I was little. I am comfortable working with kids with medical conditions such as asthma and diabetes or who rely on medication/a consistent meal schedule.
