Hi! I'm Lauren and I've been working with kids since I began babysitting back in highschool. I used to coach soccer and violin, and then progressed in college to managing and coaching climbing programs for children 4-18. Along with this I became a backpacking and backcountry climbing counselor for ages 6-12. While in college I almost dropped out of my microbiology program because I found such a love with working with children and thought I would rather be a preschool teacher. I ended up finishing my degree but then post graduation (Dec 2023) have taken up a job with Steamboat Ski School in Mountain camp, teaching 3-6 year olds to ski. I am CPR and First Aid certified, with a special cert included for children and infants. As I studied Microbiology and Genetics in college, I also apply my knowledge of disease and health when working with kids and am Read more comfortable working with little ones when they are under the weather because I know how to keep myself healthy and both natural and medicinal things that can promote healing! I believe my overall demeanor of high energy and excitement for life makes me a perfect childcare worker because its so fulfilling to be around kids as they often have the same energy level. I have also worked with a range of special needs children through Vermont Adaptive, a program that focuses on getting anyone who wants to be in the outdoors to be able to, and would love the opportunity to expand upon my skills to help more people I can. In terms of emotional management, working with kids both through work and babysitting I have dealt with a plethora of emotions and I find that I enjoy helping kids learn how to manage their emotions healthily and not to suppress them but rather explore ways to feel them and translate it into words and actions to get to a better emotional state. My last 4 jobs have also required a background check clearance, and although it is not through this specific babysitter site, I would be happy to forward that report to show my clearance of no law interactions or vehicle violations. I look forward to working with new families now that I have moved to Steamboat and would be happy to answer any questions you might have!
